This role leads the strategy on their accounts, identifies the opportunities, and guides the work from discovery through delivery.

This is a leadership role, not a coordination role. You'll be expected to bring your own marketing instincts, your own strategic thinking, and the experience to draw opportunities out of clients and turn them into meaningful work that gets executed by our team.

The Role: The Quarterback

As a Strategic Account Manager, you are the lead on your accounts. You own the relationship, the strategy, and the outcome. You'll actively monitor each account, spot the gaps before the client does, and bring in the right specialists to evaluate and execute. You're not on the sidelines calling plays from a clipboard, you're in the huddle, reading the field, and making the call.

You'll be expected to carry real strategic weight on your own, with leadership in your corner to sharpen your thinking and grow your skill set. You should be able to look at a client's service mix and identify opportunities and risks—seeing where the channels aren't working together, where investment in one area is being undermined by gaps in another, and where the next growth lever sits. You understand how PPC, SEO, CRO, design, development, and email all tie together, and you use that knowledge to grow accounts through well-positioned recommendations that turn into retainer work.

Who You Are:

A Marketer at Heart: You bring real marketing experience and a real marketing mind to the role. You understand how the channels work together and how to position recommendations that resonate with business owners.

Proactive, Not Reactive: You don't wait for clients to ask what's next. You audit their accounts, find the opportunities, and bring solutions to the table. You know how to draw growth ideas out of clients and turn them into meaningful work for our team to execute.

Technically Fluent: You're comfortable inside the back-end of Shopify, Magento, or BigCommerce. You don't need to code, but you must navigate the platforms confidently, answer technical questions, and write accurate task descriptions for our developers. You don't need to be an expert on all three, but you do need to know at least one or two, ideally BigCommerce and Shopify.

Agency-Tested: You've spent real time in agency life and know how it works. You can balance multiple stakeholders, manage shifting priorities, and keep your composure when things get complex.

Composed Under Pressure: Account management has highs and lows. You're the steady presence in the room. You handle stress well, manage expectations cleanly, and lead clients with confidence.

Self-Directed: We need a confident self-starter. This is a dynamic, hands-on role. You'll have committed support and guidance from leadership, but candidates who need a step-by-step manual to do their job won't thrive here.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & ROI: Own client retention and growth. Identify opportunities, build the case, and ensure clients see real value from our partnership.

Opportunity Identification: Proactively audit accounts to find gaps and growth levers across PPC, SEO, CRO, design, development, and email—then translate those opportunities into scoped work that fits within client retainers.

Cross-Team Leadership: Lead the work across our internal teams (Design, Dev, PPC, Email, etc.). You're directing the strategy and making sure everyone is aligned on the why behind the work.

Project Scoping: Translate complex business needs and client requests into clear, actionable scopes for our production teams.

Third-Party Management: Work directly with third-party vendor partners to ensure successful integration of apps and extensions into client stores.

Accountability: Plan for and complete all contracted tasks and deliverables on a monthly basis for each account.

Client Education: Proactively educate clients on how the channels work together and where investments in one area need to be supported by work in another. Make recommendations tied directly to their business goals.

What Success Looks Like:

You'll be evaluated on the things that actually matter: identifying real growth opportunities on your accounts, expanding accounts through well-positioned recommendations, retaining clients long-term, and maintaining strong client satisfaction. We're looking for the quarterback, not the task-coordinator.

Skills & Requirements:

3+ years in agency account management, with experience in e-commerce, web design, or digital marketing.

Proficiency with Shopify, Magento, and/or BigCommerce.

Strong working knowledge of SEO, PPC, Analytics, Email Marketing, and CRO—and how they work together.

Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused language.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent agency experience.

Must be eligible to work in the US (we cannot sponsor visas at this time).

What We Offer:

This is a fully remote role with a culture and leadership style we work hard to protect.

A Manageable, Curated Book: We work hard to make sure our AMs aren't overloaded. You'll manage a focused book of mid-market and small-enterprise e-commerce accounts—enough to keep the work interesting and the strategy meaningful, not so many that you can't do right by any of them.

Leadership That's Been in Your Seat: Your direct supervisor has over a decade of hands-on experience managing client accounts in this exact role. Our processes are built from real boots-on-the-ground experience, not bureaucracy or wishful thinking. You'll get a manager who knows what realistic looks like, protects your capacity, and is fair about workload.

High Support, High Expectations: We expect a lot, and we invest a lot. You'll get hands-on guidance, honest feedback, and the support you need to grow—and you'll be expected to take ownership, work hard, and bring your best. We don't believe in micromanagement, and we don't throw people in the deep end either.

A Culture Built for Operators: We value "progress over perfection" and "becoming better every day." We don't believe in negative or aggressive leadership styles—no yelling, no bullying, no bureaucracy. We value sharp, driven, experienced people who use those characteristics responsibly.

Real Growth Potential: This is a career role with a clear path toward leadership and increased compensation for those who prove they can drive results for our clients and the agency.

To Apply:

Please submit an up-to-date application. We review every qualified application from candidates eligible to work in the United States.
