Overview of Your Role:

The Global Tax Accounting Tax Analyst is responsible for processes necessary to ensure GM’s income taxes are properly accounted for pursuant to ASC 740 and appropriately reported in its SEC filings, including both U.S. and local tax impacts of foreign business activity.  This person will have responsibility for administering SOX compliance with respect to key financial accounting processes and the financial reporting of taxes.

Your Responsibilities:

  • US GAAP quarterly and annual tax accounting processes for the U.S. and/or non-U.S. regions, including deferred/current tax calculation, cash tax forecast, effective tax rate forecast, valuation allowance analysis, and support on the reporting of uncertain tax positions and tax contingencies
  • Review tax accounting submissions for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide tax accounting support for Tax planning, M&A, divestiture and similar activities
  • Assist in the resolve of tax accounting issues and drive leading practices 
  • Assist in technical accounting analysis of legislative developments
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related
  • 2+ years of tax accounting, compliance or related experience in a large public accounting firm or private industry experience
  • Ability to work effectively with Tax, Finance, Legal and other departments in the U.S. and other countries

Preferred

  • Exposure to the preparation of U.S. GAAP income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 including FIN 18 interim period accounting, APB 23, ASC 740-10-25 (Fin 48) tax contingency accounting, and other related accounting pronouncements.
  • Exposure to Income tax footnote preparation and review for SEC filings (10-Q / K, etc.)
  • Systems experience with tax solutions products (OneSource) and ERP ledgering systems (SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience with a U.S. based multinational and Masters in Tax preferred
  • CPA Certified

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Detroit, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
