Who We Are

Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work feels faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.

Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, humanity, and building things that last — not just shipping the next feature, but setting a standard for how modern teams (with humans and agents working together) think and execute.

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced User Researcher to shape growth-related product decisions by delivering insights that fuel AI experiences. This role blends traditional growth research, such as adoption and monetization, with fast-evolving AI features like Notion Agent and Chat that permeate experiences like onboarding and Workspace creation. It requires a unique mix of user research expertise, strategic foresight, and technical fluency in AI and AI product development.

What You'll Achieve

  • Design and execute studies that evaluate how people experience Notion with AI in the loop,, including how users discover, trust, and get value from AI, and identify barriers to adoption and willingness to pay.

  • Run mixed-methods research (qual + quant), including interviews, concept testing, prototype/usability testing, diary studies, surveys — leveraging AI tooling to scale your research process and work.

  • Deliver actionable insights that enable us to deeply understand our customers, identify business opportunities, and drive decision-making — leveraging AI to scale your reporting, sharing, and overall impact.

Skills You'll Need to Bring

  • AI fluency: You’re curious and hands-on with AI products — and can reason about how AI behavior shapes product experience.

  • Systems thinking - You can understand complex user journeys and growth engines (including the parts users don't see), and identify where experiences breakdown across the system.

  • Business mindedness: You connect research to business outcomes and can articulate why an insight matters for strategy, growth, and/or revenue.

  • Data fluency: You know how to understand and leverage experimentation, and how to use behavioral data to sharpen research questions and interpret results.

  • Pragmatism: You have experience prioritizing and doing research in fast-moving 0→1 environments, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking initiative.

  • Communication: You evolve how your share research according to the audiences and like getting creative in how you share your insights (ex: videos, podcasts, workshops, etc.)

  • Experience: 3+ years doing UX research in industry

Nice to Haves

  • Experience researching AI-enabled products (especially agentic/workflow automation), growth journeys, and B2B products

  • Expertise conducting research with AI research tools (Outset, Listen Labs, Dovetail, etc.)

  • Masters or PhD Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, or similar.

  • Experience communicating research to executive stakeholders.

  • You’re familiar with the work of computing heroes like Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, Bret Victor, etc. — and understand why we're big fans.

A Note on AI

You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we’ll make it explicit in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, move faster, and build more creatively.

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our teams to reflect the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re excited about a role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every bullet point listed, we still encourage you to apply.
